Our History
Based in Upstate New York, Tambe Electric Incorporated is an electrical contractor ranked second on the recent Rochester Business Journal list of electrical contractors. Tambe started in 1973 as a small family-based residential contractor and over the past 50 years we have grown to become Rochester’s largest merit-based electrical contractor with a continued focus on family. Today more than 200 people are employed in the Commercial, Residential, Data, Fiber, Aerial Communication, and 24/7 Service areas.
Originally running the operation from his home in Webster, NY, Mike Tambe took the reins from his father, Angelo Tambe in the early 1980s. Since then, Mike has grown the company and relocated its headquarters to facilities in Victor and Corfu, NY.
Tambe has built its trusted reputation through years of experience in working with general contractors, developers, architects, engineers and industry leaders. Our progressive team management approach has served our customers well and it’s contributed to our growth.
Over the past 20 years, Tambe has more than doubled its workforce. Growth has been strongest in the Electrical Construction and Communications divisions, and we are striving to continue this trend.
Tambe’s growth has allowed us to branch out in other geographic markets including Western NY, the Finger Lakes region, Upstate NY and the northern regions of Pennsylvania and Ohio.
Much of our company’s success – including its extremely high customer retention rate – can be attributed to its highly-responsive customer service. Satisfying customer needs is a defining characteristic of Tambe’s identity, and motivates every aspect of the operation. All employees are given the resources and responsibility to do whatever it takes to achieve customer satisfaction. Client feedback also plays an integral role in charting the company’s innovation roadmap, now and into the future.
